Privacy Policy
The short version: your pixel art is yours. We don't look at it, read it, or use it. Files you create stay in your browser unless you choose to back them up or publish them.

1. Who we are
Eddy McPixel ("we", "us") is a free, browser-based pixel art editor operated by The Occult Arcade. This policy explains what we do; and, more importantly, what we don't do; with your information.
2. Your artwork & files (the important part)
We do not view, read, analyse, or use your pixel art, layers, canvases, reference images, or project files for any purpose. By default everything you create is processed and stored locally in your own browser (localStorage). It never leaves your device.
If you choose to create an account and subscribe to Premium, your palettes and canvases can be backed up to your own private cloud account (Supabase Storage) so they sync across your devices. That backup is private to you: it is protected by Row Level Security, no one at Eddy McPixel reads it, and no human ever reviews it.
3. The community Palette Repo
The only content of yours that we store and display is what you actively and voluntarily publish to the public Palette Repo. When you publish a palette, you consent to its name, colours and your display name being shown publicly to other users, ranked by popularity, and importable by them. You can delete your own published palettes at any time.
We do not use your private artwork to train models, build datasets, or for any analytics beyond anonymous, aggregate usage statistics.
4. Automated scanning for prohibited content
To keep the community safe and to meet our legal obligations, images and canvases may be automatically scanned by automated systems for prohibited or illegal content (for example, material involving the sexual exploitation of minors, or other illegal content). This scanning is fully automated: no human looks at your data, and your files are not viewed by any person as part of this process.
A human would only ever review specific content where an automated system has flagged prohibited/illegal material, and only to the extent required by law or to take it down. Routine, lawful artwork is never seen by a person.
5. Account information
If you sign in, we receive the information your chosen provider (email/password, Google, X/Twitter, or GitHub) shares with us; typically your email address, a display name, and an avatar. We use this only to provide your account, sync, and (if Premium) billing.
6. Payments
Premium is billed through Stripe. We receive a notification of your subscription status (active, canceled, etc.) so the app can enable Premium features; we do not see or store your full card number.
7. Advertising & analytics
- Ads (free users only): the free editor may show ads via Google AdSense. Premium subscribers see no ads. AdSense may use cookies subject to Google's policies.
- Analytics: we use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate, anonymised usage (e.g. which tools are popular). This never includes your artwork.
8. Third parties we rely on
Your data is processed by: Supabase (authentication and, for Premium, private storage), Stripe (payments), and Google (AdSense and Analytics). Each operates under its own privacy policy and only receives what is strictly necessary to provide that service.
9. Cookies & local storage
We use browser localStorage to remember your canvas, palette and settings between visits, and standard cookies via our analytics and advertising partners. You can clear these at any time in your browser settings.
10. Data retention & your rights
You can delete your account and its data at any time by signing in and using "Sign out" / requesting deletion, or by emailing us. Published palettes remain public until you delete them. We retain only what is needed to operate your account and comply with legal obligations.
11. Children
Eddy McPixel is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country). If you believe a minor has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes & contact
We may update this policy as the service evolves; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Questions? Email hello@theoccultarcade.com.
